Program Descriptions

 

AMPHIBIANS
Live frogs, frog calls, skeletons, frog development, frog dissection model, and photos are discussed and presented during the program that covers amphibian characteristics, adaptations, development, conservation, exotics, and species found in Florida habitats.

BIRDS
Bird feathers, beaks, feet, nests, eggs, calls, and slides are discussed and presented during the program that covers avian characteristics, adaptations, development, conservation, and common species found in Florida habitats.

BUTTERFLIES
Live caterpillars and butterflies, preserved specimens, models, and props are used and discussed during the program that covers insect characteristics, adaptations, development, common species found in Florida habitats, and observations of all stages of development in our gardens (seasonal).

INSECTS
Live insects, preserved specimens, models, and props are used and discussed during the program that covers insect characteristics, adaptations, development, and a variety of different genera this vast class covers.

MARINE MAMMALS
Skulls, sounds, models, photos, and props are used and discussed during the program that covers mammal characteristics, ocean adaptations, conservation, and an introduction to three unique Florida marine mammals (Manatee, Bottlenose Dolphin, and Humpback Whale).

PLANTS
Live plants, preserved specimens, seeds, fruit, products, and models are used and discussed during the program that covers plant parts, growth, habitats, reproduction, and the many finished products we come to use everyday made from plants.

RECYCLING
A “Know Your Bins” Game and Recycling Bingo are played during the program to reinforce concepts and vocabulary introduced with this topic. Recycled products and photos are used to illustrate recycling principles and the importance of recycling for the future of Florida’s landscape.

REPTILES
Live animals, skulls, models, skeletons, and shells are used and discussed during the program that covers reptile characteristics, adaptations, development, conservation, and common species found in Florida habitats.
