All programs (unless otherwise noted) are by reservation only.
Call or visit the Nature Center to make reservations. For every program or tour, all participants are required to sign a "Program Participation Form."

FEBRUARY

  • SPECIAL EVENT: The Big Sit
    Saturday, February 4, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
    All Ages - FREE (Reservations NOT Required)
    The Friends of Green Cay host the first ever Big Sit, a one of a kind bird watching event! This event will take place on the back deck of the nature center. We will have binoculars and scopes set up for counting birds. A daily running tally will be posted. Click here for the event flyer.

  • WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP: Wings in Nature
    Saturday, Feb 11 & 18 at 10:00 am (Reservations Required)
    $20 for both sessions, $10 for Friends of Green Cay, Inc. Members (payment required at time of reservation)
    Taught by Philip Rathner-Wildlife Artist & Photographer
    Session 1: Introduction to watercolor- how to start a successful painting. No materials will be needed for this session.
    Session 2: Techniques to create a watercolor painting.

  • THE NIGHT STALKERS
    Friday, February 17 - 6:30 pm
    (All Ages) $3.00 per person
    Join a Naturalist on a night-time boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents.

  • STORY and CRAFT TIME
    Saturday, February 25 - 10:00 am
    (Ages 3 to 5 yrs) $2.00 per child
    Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes!

 

MARCH

  • WETLANDS
    Saturday, March 3 - 1:00pm
    (All Ages) - $3.00 per person (4 and under Free)
    What is a wetland? Why are they important? Come out to Green Cay’s wetland to learn the answer to these questions and more. Also meet some animals that you could find in Florida’s wetlands.

  • THE NIGHT STALKERS
    Thursday, March 15 - 7:00 pm
    (All Ages) - $3.00 per person

  • SOUTH FLORIDA MAMMALS
    Saturday, March 17 - 1:00pm
    (All Ages) $3.00 per person (4 & under Free)
    Come find out what mammals we have in south Florida! You’ll learn what makes mammals different from other animals and how their teeth and fur can tell you a lot about their lives.

  • JUNIOR NATURALIST SERIES
    Thursday, Mar 22 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, Entomology
    Thursday, Mar 22 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm, Green Cay Survivor
    Friday, Mar 23 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, Ornithology
    Friday, Mar 23 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm, Wetland Biology
    Saturday, Mar 24 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, Herpetology
    (Ages 9 - 14 yrs old ) $10.00 per session (Reservations Required)
    The Junior Naturalist Series is perfect for youth that are interested in nature and outdoor activities! It's a great way to learn about nature while having fun. Register for as many sessions as you like. Register now, space is limited!

    (Ages 3 to 5 yrs) $2.00 per child
    Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes!
