FEBRUARY

  • Story & Craft Time
    Saturday, February 28, 10 a.m.
    Suggested ages 3-6 years old, $2/per child (Reservations required)

    Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes!

MARCH

  • SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: ASTOUNDING ARMADILLOS
    Wednesday, March 4, 1:00 p.m.
    Ages 50+, $5/person (Reservations Required)

    Delve into the facts and myths about these strange nocturnal creatures. Explore the many different varieties such as the Nine Banded Armadillo found in Florida. Afterwards, enjoy a lecture from the nature center’s resident “Creepy-Crawly” expert and volunteer, Sydelle Dombrowsky.

  • PLEDGE 2 FLEDGE
    Saturday, March 14, 9:00 a.m.

    Presented by the Audubon Society of the Everglades
    Hosted by the Friends of Green Cay Nature Center, Inc.
    All ages, FREE (Reservations NOT Required)

    Pledge 2 Fledge is a grassroots movement by the Global Birding Initiative to inspire experienced birders to take non-birders out on a birding excursion and help them develop an appreciation for birds and nature. Take part in an introduction to birding and take a tour to learn more about birding!

  • WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
    Taught by wildlife artist Philip Rathner
    Saturdays, March 14, 21 & 28, and April 4, 1:00 p.m.
    $40/all four sessions, $30/Friends of Green Cay members (Reservations Required)
    Learn to paint wildlife in watercolors. An introduction to watercolor painting, materials needed and how to   
    use them will be provided. Participants who attended last year’s workshop are welcome to bring any |
    complete or incomplete work for additional help. Beginners welcome.

  • SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: ANIMAL COMMUNICATION
    Wednesday, March 18, 1:00 p.m.
    Ages 50+, $5/person (Reservations Required)
    Animals use many ways to communicate with each other, just like we do: vocal communication, body  
    language, visual messages, and they even communicate through scent! Learn all about the different ways
    these animals communicate during this Science for Seniors presentation.

  • NIGHT STALKERS                                                                    
    Thursday, March 26, 6:30 p.m.
    All ages, $5/person (Reservations Required, limit 20)
    Join a naturalist on a night-time boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal
    residents.

  • STORY & CRAFT TIME
    Saturday, March 28, 10:00 a.m.
    Ages: 4-10, $2/child (Reservations Required, limit 10)

    Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes!

FREE guided 1/2 mile boardwalk tours

Every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. and every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.

No reservations required, sign in at the front desk.
