General Therapeutic Programs

 
We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families, and thereby increasing the public's knowledge and sensitivity. This mission will be accomplished through the provision and facilitation of

  • Adaptive Recreation programs that promote leisure and play
  • Training and skill development
  • Resource and referral services
  • Community awareness and education


The Club Managers Association of America Therapeutic Recreation Complex
The Club Managers Association of America Therapeutic Recreation Complex, with The Gleneagles Country Club Aquatic Center, The Fountains Recreation Center, and The Murray, Meyer and Rachelle Grodetsky Family Foundation Athletic Center, incorporates a state-of-the-art accessibility design with sophisticated adapted equipment. People of all ages and abilities are able to train and compete in sports, participate in rehabilitation and fitness programs, and experience a wide variety of visual and performing arts programs. In addition, marketable talents can be developed for future employment and independence.

    Check it Out! A hand-crank bicycle, sports wheelchairs, tennis equipment, and more are available! Call us for details. Community Programming This section provides a variety of recreational activities for people of all ages with disabilities.
  • Program Information
    Special Olympics provides a variety of sports training opportunities and competitions during the year for over 1,000 athletes with developmental disabilities throughout Palm Beach County.

Coaching opportunities are available throughout the county, as well as training courses for those interested in becoming a Certified Special Olympics Coach.

VSA Arts Of Florida - Palm Beach County
VSA arts of Florida-Palm Beach County promotes arts, education, and creative expression, involving children and adults with disabilities, thereby strengthening the human spirit and improving the quality of life for all.

Many visual and performing art opportunities are available including classes and events such as West Fest and a Holiday Showcase. For more information, please call (561) 966-7015.

Participation in General Recreation Classes-Individuals with disabilities are also encouraged to participate in general recreation classes offered through the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. If a reasonable accommodation is necessary to participate, the request can be made to program staff or through the Therapeutic Recreation Section.
