Recognition Programs

Golden Palm Award
The County Administrator’s Golden Palm Award which started in 1994 is the highest level of recognition for employee and work group accomplishments and is a complement to departmental Employee Recognition Programs.

Incentive Leave
Incentive Leave provides Department Heads with an additional tool to reward employees with paid leave of up to 20 hours per year for contributing significantly to achievement of department or county government goals, customer service improvements, cost savings initiatives, or a project of importance to the organization. (See PPM CW-P-58). This office is responsible for changes to the program and for tracking usage as a recognition tool.

Breakfast with Bob
The County Administrator periodically holds breakfast meetings with a small group of employees from various departments to inform them about current County government issues and to learn about their concerns or suggestions. Some significant changes have been made as a result of these interchanges.

Speakers Bureau

The County's Public Affairs Department coordinates speakers from a wide variety of departments, free-of-charge to any organization, senior citizen's group, or school upon request. Topics range from agriculture to zoning issues. Some departments will tailor a speech topic to your specific needs, if possible.

Who Participates in the Speakers’ Bureau?
County departments under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners are speakers in this program.

How Do I Schedule a Speech?
All it takes is a phone call. We will assist you in choosing a topic from the ones you see listed here PDF.   If you are interested in a topic that you do not see listed, please ask. We may be able to accommodate your request. We will then direct you to the right person to contact to set up your speech!

You will confirm your speaker directly with the County department or agency, but should any problems arise we will be there to assist you. Your comments and suggestions are a valuable tool in making the Speakers' Bureau a successful service to everyone in the County. We request at least 3 weeks notice for scheduling purposes. If we cannot provide a speaker, we will refer you to other community sources.
