Public Affairs Department Wins 10 National Awards

“Superior” Award Received in Five Categories

With the goal of keeping residents informed about County operations and programs, the Public Affairs Department provides a multitude of services. For their efforts and in competition with state, county and local government offices, the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) selected the department to receive ten awards from entries received throughout the United States.

Earning a “superior” rating were the Palm Beach County Calendar/Annual Report; 2005 Hurricane Season Campaign (video and public service announcements on how to prepare); the annual Palm Beach County Days in Tallahassee special event; the 2005 Economic Summit; and the Scheduled Bridge Openings citizen education project.

The second highest award rating of “excellence” was given for the department’s Media Handbook, a speech on affordable housing and Channel 20’s Film Festival Program. The County Guide to Services and the Web site for Palm Beach County Days received “meritorious” awards.

Public Affairs Department Director Beth Ingold-Love said, “We have very talented employees who reach out in creative ways to meet the needs of current and new residents. I’m not at all surprised we received these awards.”

The Public Affairs Department is composed of four divisions – Community Relations & Marketing, Cable TV, Channel 20 and Graphics & Printing. For information and direction on County services, call 355-2754.
