The Palm Beach County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Committee serves as the primary mechanism for planning and coordinating mitigation projects and initiatives among county and municipal governments, educational institutions, not-for-profit agencies and the private sector. All mitigation activities are coordinated through the Senior Mitigation Planner and the LMS Steering Committee and are ongoing during all phases of emergency management - mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Mitigation projects carried on the LMS Prioritized Project List may be eligible for funding under a variety of programs including Pre Disaster Mitigation (PDM), Public Assistance (PA), Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs (HMGP), or other identified sources. The list of projects is updated at least twice a year in anticipation of funding opportunities.
