The Planning Section focuses on a large number of topics in emergency management. This section is responsible for coordinating the efforts of various community stakeholders (e.g., county, municipal, state, and federal government agencies; non-profits; citizens' groups) and developing comprehensive strategies to safeguard the lives and property of Palm Beach County citizens. A number of planning staff are dedicated to anti-terrorism activities and preparing the community to respond to and recover from incidents involving radiological materials. Other planners focus on the current hot topics in emergency management, including developing protective actions for a potential breach in the Herbert Hoover Dike surrounding Lake Okeechobee and preparing to address an influenza pandemic. |
