Conditions of Approval and Your Permit

Did you know that your building permit or certificate of occupancy for a non-residential project, or home within a planned residential development could be held up for failure to comply with conditions of approval?

Before building permits and certificates of occupancy (C.O.) can be issued, property owners or developers are frequently told that there is a monitoring hold on their permit or C.O. and they need to talk to someone in the Monitoring Section. This is because the Board of County Commissioners or Development Review Officer has imposed certain requirements (conditions of approval) that must be satisfied prior to the issuance of a permit or C.O. These requirements are frequently related to the conveyance of right-of-way, construction of roads, installment of median landscaping, completion of recreation amenities, planting of street trees, construction of school bus shelters, and numerous other actions. If you do not know the status of your conditions of approval, you may contact Linda Monroe at 233-5321, or John Pancoast at 233-5322. Be prepared to provide your PR or building permit number.
