The above two pictures are the same property, located in the City of Lantana near the Ritz Carlton hotel. The property was a fill site which has been cleaned up and redeveloped as an adult living facility. The clean up and reuse of property is an example of brownfield redevelopment.

What are brownfields?

Brownfields are generally defined as abandoned, idle, or underused industrial and commercial property where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by actual or perceived contamination.

Why is brownfield redevelopment important?

Brownfield redevelopment helps to recycle old property into active reuse. It helps to clean up the environment, create jobs, and increase the tax base. Property is precious: clean-up and redevelopment benefits the environment, people, and the economy.
