Lake Worth Park of Commerce Urban Redevelopment Area

The Lake Worth Park of Commerce Urban Redevelopment Area (LWPOCURA) is located at the southern tip of the URA. The boundaries for the Park of Commerce are: 10 th Avenue North to the north, Lake Worth Road to the south, I-95 to the east, and the E-4 Canal to the west. The LWPOCURA was established in 2002 as a result of the 1998 LWPOC conceptual plan through a joint effort involving the City of Lake Worth, other County agencies and property owners within its boundaries. The major goals of the LWPOC have been to create a quality office/industrial park that will help to provide an employment center; promote redevelopment and economic revitalization; ensure a mixture of land uses that are compatible and complementary in the area; and provide for improved infrastructure, services and access.

Since the creation of the LWPOC, several initiatives outlined in the 1998 LWPOC Conceptual Plan have occurred, including land use changes within the boundaries of the Park of Commerce, approval of the extension and alignment of Boutwell Road from 2 nd Avenue North to Lake Worth Road, and further annexations of parcels into the City of Lake Worth. In addition, an Interlocal Agreement was adopted in 1998 between the County and the City of Lake Worth to seek funds and provide an instrument to present and share information. Using these funds, grants were secured for improvements to the Park of Commerce, including a grant from Beautiful Palm Beaches to provide landscaping along Lake Worth Road and Interstate 95. Also, the County and City entered into an agreement in August 2001, for provision of urban design, town planning and conceptual design services with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC).

Since this time a large portion of the LWPOCURA was annexed into the City of Lake Worth and a drainage study was completed in April of 2004.
