Special Permit uses are those uses that are generally compatible with the other uses permitted in a district, but that require individual review of their location, design, configuration and intensity and density of use, buildings and structures, and may require the imposition of conditions in order to ensure the appropriateness of the use at a particular location. These uses are generally temporary for a specified or fixed period of time.
Uses designated with an “S” in the ULDC use matrix in Article 3 and Article 4 require individual review of their location, design, configuration, etc. and may require conditions of approval. There are several types of special permits and each has individual submittal requirements that are specified in the ULDC Article 2 and Article 4.
