Population and Demographics

Palm Beach County has come of age. From a pioneer village for fishermen and animal trappers in the 1870’s, to a winter resort haven for the wealthy in the 1920’s, to a blossoming metropolis in the post World War II era, the County has undergone tremendous changes and growth.  What are we like? Where are we going in the future? Planning Division often receives requests for demographic information from the public, whether for grant writing or market research. Below are web links to many sites developed by public organizations that have already organized demographic information in a user-friendly format. They are excellent resources for State, County, Municipal, and small area statistics.

Palm Beach County Profile 

A general profile of the County, updated annually by Planning staff, giving the latest population estimates and projections by municipalities, development activities, and general socio-economic information.

2006 Population Allocation Model 

A land use based allocation model, updated annually by Planning staff, giving small areas population projections for 2006 through 2025.

2000 Demographic Profiles

Four-page summary profiles for Palm Beach County and municipalities, including data on gender, age, race, ethnicity, household types and relationships, housing occupancy, tenure, educational attainment, occupation, income, poverty, ancestry, housing values, rent, housing cost burden and commuting.

2000 Census Information by Census Tract

An Excel table of key census statistics such as population, households, income, age, race by Census Tracts.

Florida Long Term Economic Forecast Vol-II State and Counties - 2002

Results of a set of econometric models developed by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR), University of Florida, providing long term outlook from 2002 through 2015 for County’s employment, personal income, housing starts, population, industries, as well as County rankings and growth rates of each of these attributes.

Florida Price Index

The index measured the relative cost of obtaining a specific goods and services across Florida. Calculated by BEBR for each county, it offers a good comparison of cost of living among the counties in Florida. 

American Community Survey

A critical element in the 2010 Census plan, the annual survey provides communities a fresh look at how they are changing. 2003 Data Profiles for over 800 geographical areas, including Palm Beach County; 2003 Ranking Table Index Page giving quick view of states, counties ranked on key issues.
