Delinquent Property Tax Reminder

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

A reminder from Anne M. Gannon, Palm Beach County Tax Collector …

If you have 2006 property taxes due, paying them by May 31, 2007 will save you money. Tax certificates and tax warrants will be issued in June.

Tax certificates for real estate are sold at public auction via the internet in June to replace uncollected tax dollars for government agencies in Palm Beach County. The sale of a tax certificate increases the final amount due by at least 10% for costs and minimum interest.

When tax warrants for tangible personal property are issued, interest and other costs are added to the tax due. If the taxes are not paid, the personal property may be seized and sold.

Taxes may be paid in person at one of the following locations:

  • Governmental Center: 301 N. Olive Ave., 3rd Floor, West Palm Beach
  • Glades Service Center: 2976 State Road 15, Belle Glade
  • North County Service Center: 3188 PGA Boulevard, Palm Beach Gardens
  • Lake Worth Service Center: 3551 South Military Trail, Lake Worth
  • South County Service Center: 501 South Congress Avenue, Delray Beach
  • Royal Palm Beach Service Center: 200 Civic Center Way, Royal Palm Beach

REMEMBER, DELINQUENT TAXES MAY ONLY BE PAID BY CASH, MONEY ORDER, CERTIFIED CHECK, BANK DRAFT, U.S. POSTAL ORDER OR CASHIER'S CHECK.

PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE TAX COLLECTOR NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M., THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2007. THE POSTMARK DATE DOES NOT SERVE AS PAYMENT DATE FOR DELINQUENT TAXES.
