Mini Lobster Season

The annual spiny lobster sport season is held annually on the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday of July each year. This year the sport season begins at 12:01 am on July 25 and ends at 11:59 pm on July 26, 2007. A saltwater fishing license and a lobster permit are required to participate in the sport season. The cost of the fishing license for Florida residents is $13.50 and the lobster permit is $2. Both can be purchased at any of the Tax Collector’s offices. The bag limits are 12 per person per day with the exception of Monroe County and Biscayne National Park where the bag limits are 6 per person per day. The possession limit on the water is equal to the daily bag limit, and off the water is equal to the daily bag limit on the first day and double the daily bag limit on the second day. Possession limits are enforced on and off the water.
