WEST PALM BEACH - February 23, 2009 Over 100 Attendees Scheduled to Attend Honest Services & Public Integrity Workshop

Tax Collector Gannon, with the Palm Beach County League of Cities, invites local elected officials, public advocacy groups and the business community to attend an Honest Services & Public Integrity Workshop and Discussion.  Over 100 attendees have reserved a seat at the workshop.  Because of limited room capacity, persons who reserved seats first will have priority seating.   The workshop will take place on Friday, February 27 from 9 – 11am in the Palm Beach County Commission Chambers.  The workshop will include a panel discussion of professionals with public fraud legal expertise.  “In light of the recent incidences of public deception, it behooves everyone to increase awareness about fraudulent behavior, and discuss how we can positively change the climate of government business.” said Tax Collector Gannon.

The panelists are:

Bruce Reinhart, Esquire: Runs a Federal Criminal and Civil Trial Practice and is a former Federal Prosecutor with 19 years experience prosecuting public corruption cases around the country.

John Kastrenakes, Esquire: Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida who enhances public integrity by investigating and prosecuting federal, state and local officials for violations of federal statutes covering bribery, conflict of interest, embezzlement, and extortion.

Bonnie Miskel, Esquire: Partner at the law firm Siegel, Lipman, Dunay, Shepard & Miskel, LLP whoassists clients to finance, structure and entitle residential, commercial and institutional real estate projects.

Alan S. Johnson, Esquire: Assistant State Attorney, 15th Judicial Circuit. He serves as Senior Counsel for State Attorney Michael McAuliffe’s newly designated Public Integrity Unit

The workshop is free, and all elected or appointed officials, public advocacy groups, governmental board members and members of the business community who interact with government officials are encouraged to attend.  Attendees will participate in a question and answer session after the panel discussion.
