The Tax Collector is contracted by the Board of County Commissioners
to collect Tourist Development Tax.
Important Information about Tourist Development Tax:
- In 2007, we collected 26.8 million in Tourist Development Taxes in Palm Beach County.
- Tourist Development Tax is charged to any person who rents
or leases accommodations for a period of six months or less
in Palm Beach County.
- This tax is collected by the owners or operators
of those facilities and remitted to the Tax Collector.
- The Tourist Development Tax strengthens the local
economy by creating jobs, enhancing the environment and
supporting cultural events. Tourist Tax Revenue is allocated
to the following programs: Tourism Promotion, Cultural Arts,
Beach Restoration, Cultural Non-Arts (Museum, Zoo, Historical
Society), Sports Commission, Professional Sports Facilities
and Film & Television Commission
