Ethics Initiative Rollout

Tax Collector Gannon is taking the Palm Beach County Ethics Pledge one step further, by asking every member of her staff sign the pledge.  On Wednesday, January 28, Tax Collector Gannon and Leadership Palm Beach County kicked-off the signing of their ethics policy.  “We take our value of integrity very seriously – our ethical behavior matters to everyone at our office, not just the elected official.  Our staff interacts with the public each and every day and the professional behavior we exhibit is a key part of that interaction.” said Tax Collector Gannon.  The Ethics Pledge can be found on our website (www.taxcollectorpbc.com) or at any of the branch locations.

The Tax Collector’s Office is the first government office in Palm Beach County to partner with Ethics Point, a third-party ethics reporting agency. Ethics Point provides a website and toll-free phone number for employees to report questionable ethical behavior. Tax Collector Gannon emphasized that “Our goal with the ethics policy is excellence in the workplace in a culture of openness, trust and integrity.”

Additionally, the Tax Collector’s Office will co-host an Honest Services Fraud Workshop with the Palm Beach County League of Cities on February 27, 9 -11 am, in the Palm Beach County Commission Chambers. The workshop is for elected officials, governmental board members, appointed officials, and organizations that currently conduct or are interested in conducting business with a Palm Beach County government/public entity. RSVP to Rena James at (561) 355-1608 or rjames@pbcgov.org by 5 pm on February 20, 2009.
