On Saturday, January 31st, Tax Collector employees participated in the Komen South Florida Race for the Cure. The employees of the Tax Collector’s office elected to support the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to raise money for breast cancer research in the Palm Beach County area. Participation agency-wide was overwhelming.
One component of the fundraising effort involved a “Tax Collector Warriors In Pink” Road Show held January 5-13. The Warriors in Pink Team hosted a breakfast and educational program at each Service Center, at which employees raised $1,273.25. Additionally employees raised approximately $2,000 from Dress Down for Charities contributions. Employees voluntarily contribute $1 a week from their paycheck to dress down on Fridays.
With a staff that is over 90% female, many employees have been touched by breast cancer, either themselves, a family member, friend or co-worker. Through our involvement with Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, we encourage you to educate yourself and your loved ones about breast cancer.
