Save Money & Renew for 2 NOW!

This year, Florida’s legislative session ended on May 8, after a one week extension focused on resolving a $6 billion revenue shortfall. To bridge part of the revenue gap, legislators increased motor vehicle fees and drivers’ license fees.

On September 1, 2009, vehicle registration fees increase between 35% and 60% (depending on the type of registration). Vehicle registrations renew on your birthday. You can renew your registration up to 3 months before your birthday. Persons with birthdays between now and November can renew before the September 1 rate increase takes effect. So, act now and beat the increase!

All funds resulting from motor vehicle fee increases go directly to state revenue.

Although the motor vehicle registration fees have increased, clients will not have to replace license plates as frequently. The license plate replacement cycle is changed from six years to ten years.

The fee increases become effective September 1, 2009.
