The Medical Services Division oversees all medical care, emergency medical training, and Mobile Integrated Healthcare services for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. ​

Our Medical Services Division comprises highly trained paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) prepared to respond to a wide range of medical emergencies, from routine calls to complex traumatic injuries.

Medical Director Oversight

  • Real-World Experience: These Medical Directors consistently provide hands-on guidance, working alongside paramedics on emergency calls to ensure the highest standards of patient care are delivered in the field.

  • Measurable Results: In Fiscal Year 2023, the Medical Services Division successfully provided EMS training for 72 recruits and transformed 52 state or nationally certified paramedics into highly skilled PBCFR paramedics.

​Whole Blood Transfusion

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) is committed to delivering exceptional emergency medical services (EMS) to our community. Recognizing the critical need for more efficient and effective treatment of bleeding trauma patients, PBCFR implemented a pioneering program: the Prehospital Whole Blood Transfusion Program.

Grounded in comprehensive research and collaborative efforts with local trauma centers, PBCFR's program focuses on delivering whole blood transfusions in the prehospital setting. This innovative intervention significantly improves patient survival rates by rapidly replacing lost blood volume compared to traditional packed red blood cells, a critical factor during the "golden hour."

PBCFR stands as one of the select few agencies nationwide, and the sole provider within Palm Beach County, to offer this advanced form of prehospital care. Our dedication to continuous improvement is evidenced by:
