About Us

The Consumer Affairs Division is a Palm Beach County government agency under the Public Safety Department.​ The staff consists of customer service specialists and investigators charged with administering the Palm Beach County Consumer Affairs, Moving, Water TaxiTowing and Immobilization Services, Vehicle for Hire, and Home Caregiver Ordinances. We also administer the Work ID portion of the County's Adult Entertainer Ordinance. Consumer protections are extended to the public through licensing, investigation, informal mediation, and compliance activities.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to help consumers make informed decisions about businesses. We investigate, negotiate, and mediate consumer complaints against businesses with a goal of avoiding any future conflicts and misunderstandings. We protect consumers and businesses from unlawful, deceptive and unfair trade practices by the enforcement of existing Ordinance laws and regulations.

  • Applications
    For regulated industries: Business Permit applications, Driver applications, and applications for Work IDs are accepted Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., excluding holidays.
    Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
